HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED NEW SINGLE ‘JUST THE WAY IT IS’ AVAILABLE ON ALL STREAMING HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED NEW SINGLE ‘JUST THE WAY IT IS’ AVAILABLE ON ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS JULY 11. PLATFORMS JULY 11.

West Australian alt-country/rock singer songwriter Siobhan Cotchin Siobhan Cotchin’s third and highly anticipated single, ‘Just the Way It Is Just the Way It Is’, catalogues the space left by the departure of a relationship. It captures a realisation we’ve all had, the moment when your rock has transformed into gossamer; once strong and supportive it’s now thin, flimsy and delicate. The song rises and falls beautifully much like post-breakup feelings. The low points hit hard yet there are hopeful moments when you realise that unlike rock, gossamer allows new light to leak in.

Honest, raw and real — Siobhan Cotchin has proven herself to be a talented songwriter. She’s able to simply decode complex human relationships and get listeners right in their feels. Siobhan says, “This song is about the fragility of all human relationships, platonic or romantic. No matter how hard you both try, sometimes there’s a breaking point and two people go from hanging out all the time to becoming strangers. It’s about finding the people that will stay”.

In what seems like lightning speed, Siobhan Cotchin has made her mark on the Australian music scene. Every one of her releases has been played on national radio — on repeat. Her recent release, ‘Do You Know What I Mean’ sat at number 2 on the Triple J Roots Chart for a number of weeks and has earnt her serious accolades from some of the music industry’s heavy hitters.

You’ll be forgiven for thinking Siobhan Cotchin is well beyond her 20-years of age. Her live sets have quickly gained momentum, supporting Robert Forster (Go-Betweens), Spacey Jane, Carla Geneve, Abbe May and The Kill Devil Hills. With a writing style that echoes the effortless musing of Lucinda Williams, laced with inspiration drawn from Bob Dylan, Siobhan’s jangly luminous melodies hover over storytelling lyrics as she effortlessly pulls the listener into a world of introspective self-discovery. A world that’s all her own.

Her heart-hitting writing has already resulted in many wins including West Australian Music Assoc. (WAM) Song of the Year nominee; Winner of Fairbridge & Nannup Music Festival's Emerging Artist Award, and song of the year with local youth radio station 'Pirate FM'; Siobhan is an artist to watch. You can be sure, there’s plenty more to come.

‘Just The Way It Is’ was Recorded at Sundown studio, in Perth W.A.
